“I made the decision after our conversation that I needed a change of job… I went out to the interview feeling confident… got an email from them early last week to say that I got the job. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I also got the courage to email my boss and tell her (my concerns). I feel like I found me again and that is thanks to you. I just want to say a huge thank you for helping me.“

What is Coaching?
Coaching is designed to help people improve their careers and lives, by deep questioning. It focuses on actions and behavioural changes.
The coach (me!) has the questions; you have the answers – somewhere that can be difficult to reach without those coaching questions. It’s about understanding where you are, where you want to be and what you need to do to get there.
Together, we can work out what would be most helpful to you, so you can Be Better.
Why Coaching?
Coaching helps improve your performance and achieve your goals – as with the familiar concept of sports coaching. Broadly, if there’s something you would like to improve in your company, your career or your life – coaching can help you work out the best way forwards. Below are just some of the most common areas I help with – there are many more. The personal and professional usually overlap; the unproductive patterns that emerge in work were usually formed in your personal life – for example: people pleasing; inner criticism; dwelling on unproductive thoughts; stress responses to overload – etc.
Professional
- Career change – deciding what’s next
- Career acceleration – break through to the next level
- Challenging relationships – with managers, team or clients
- Coping with stress in work
- Improving performance – your business, team and self
- Set and achieve business growth objectives
- Develop difficult team members
- Self confidence to improve your leadership
Personal
- Self confidence – enable you to bring your best self across
- Communication – eg: talking “too much”, or “too little”
- Improving healthy behaviours – achieve your best self
- Better ways of dealing with relationship issues
- Prepare for big events – promotion; interviews
- Avoid procrastination and improve time management
- Support in accountability – maintain sustained change
- Achieving work-life balance
The Practicalities
FREE 30 min session
We begin to look at some topics that could be explored for you, and discuss what coaching could help with. After that, you decide whether you want to proceed – and no worries if you decide it’s not for you!
This session has little “coaching” time, and doesn’t usually allow us to explore a goal in depth. But if we can, we will.
PROGRAMME
People usually book for 6 to 10 sessions, of 60 to 90 minutes, which usually happen every 2 to 4 weeks.
Timings are flexible. I have some availability for weekends and evenings (though these slots tend to go quickly). We’ll book them all in advance for simplicity, but you can reschedule for free any time up to 24h before the session.
THE SESSIoNS
Each session will usually start with discussing what’s most important for you to think through today.
We’ll set a goal for the session – which may change over the course of discussion! – and discuss what’s currently happening. Then we’ll explore your options in depth; and conclude with some clear, practical actions which you’ll set for yourself.

Testimonials – What People say
I had coaching with Lir at two difficult decision-making moments in my career. On both occasions Lir was amazing. She gave me the time and space to work through my thinking, but as importantly was direct and authentic with feedback. The coaching led to me getting a senior management position at Dyson and now my director role running an innovation team. I can’t recommend Lir enough and look forward to working with her again in the future!

I’m in the middle of a career change and felt stuck so I needed a coach to work through some personal and practical work issues. Lir is a fantastic coach, and has a pragmatic, calm and positive approach. She has so much experience of working with people at different stages of their career in different work environments. When we started working together I felt excited but unsure of myself. Now I feel more confident and have clarity on where I want to be and my next steps. It really helped me to acknowledge my achievements and look towards the future.
